In the mood for..

…knitting and then again not so much.
Right now I’m working on a pullover, an enchanted mesa and I give daily updates on my instagram, which is kinda motivating and fascinating at the same time. For once I get to finally see how much time I actually spend on one piece and also it’s amazing to see it grow, in pictures, even if it’s just a few rounds and when you have it on your lap it feels like nothing. You know this, not motivating at all. It’s mainly stockinette which is great for watching movies and traveling but not so much for keeping interest.
Anyhow, I’m 23 days in now and made good progress. (It’s also quite astounding how much time I actually spend on one sweater. 23 days means approx 50-60 hours and even calculating with just two hours a day, … I mean just think about it ..It’s a lot, and then people ask you to knit something for them and want to spend as little money as possible, but that’s a whole different story)
So, anyhow (again) fall is here and I feel like starting something else. There is beautiful yarn in my stash that yells “cardigan” at me, but more importantly the weather yells “bandana cowl”.
I have two (also back then I had no idea this kind of shawl would be called bandana cowl one day) and modified them from triangular shawls (really easy, here and here)  and feel like I want another one, thinner, more on the loose side.
The ones I have are perfect for winter, like really close to the neck, warm down your back and especially front. Not too much bulk all around that will look like an angry turtles neck. Well just really great for winter.
Now that days are chilly in the mornings and warmer in the late afternoons they would be way too warm and I go with thin fabric scarfs, but that’s not really my boat right now.
So I’m thinking, starting something new? I mean I would need this cowl, I will wear this cowl. It would also mean less knitting time on my mesa sweater, which means it will take longer (which it does anyway as motivation is low right now).
Ah, so many things to think about.
(not mentioning the itchy fingers for another cardigan)

p.s. see how I just pretended to never stopped blogging during the summer? 😉
p.p.s. would you like to knit along with me? It would be a “recipe” pattern again, so go with what you like I’ll give you the technique and we’ll have fun, what you think?

FO – cyclone the prototype

first – WOW – I’m so overwhelmed by the attention #cyclonehat received in such a short time!! Thank you so much on all the lovely, geeky, beautiful comments. Over on ravelry it was one of the “hot right now” patterns within 24hours (it got over 1.200 likes in 48 hours). I really have no words. I feel a bit of pressure – but that’s okay, life is fun!

Thank you so much!!

Now let me fill you in on the details on my Cyclone.

On new years resolutions – UFO busting in 2017 – part 1

Usually I’m not a big fan of New Years resolutions and I would not like to say I have some this year, but there is a plan for my knitting. Maybe two or three weeks ago I felt like making another cardigan, a red one, I think I’ve mentioned the plan before. However just having finished my Herbert Niebling blanket (Eichenlaub) which took like 5.5 years from cast on to bind off I realised I enjoy that “finish object high” – don’t you do too?

So, instead of casting on new stuff I decided it’s about time to bust that UFOs that are hiding in boxes behind sofas.

I will definitely also make new stuff, in my instagram feed there is a designer who just shared a hat

on the ups and downs of designing

I’m high. High on knitting. Do you know this feeling? when you knit and knit and feel happy and smile and what you see in your hands gives you joy?

It’s happening right now, here on my sofa. Usually this feeling gets me when I frogged something and re-knit it, as I know the second time it will be better, will be what I actually want.

With this new hat I’m making I frogged it four times altogether, two times on each side, knitting it six times. “sides” might sound a bit weird right now. I’m working on a new design which is constructed as
