spring in berlin

Framed – March 2017

March was pretty calm over here, I started with a cold and ended March with my obligatory two weeks of hay fever. A lot of sniffing.

In genereal March was working, only a little bit of knitting and mostly being happy about the sparks of joy the spring can bring. When nature wakes up from its beauty sleep. Oh my – I love this – fresh green, popping colors, forcing their way into the grey world. Besides that last week/weekend we had temperatures that equal summer! o_O in March.

herringbone green diana

FO – herringbone #1 the green one

Hello dearies 🙂

it’s spring and everything’s getting green and fresh and all that jazz, I love it!!

And I love wearing my first herringbone cowl. To be honest it’s the first cowl I ever made, and I was sceptical about the cowl in itself, like how it will wear and if it won’t be too big or too small. But no, this one is a clear yes! When I saw the pic on malabrigos insta-feed I feel in love (also the name of the colorway was my name so it felt like fate to make it) – but I think you know this already, I blogged a bit about it 🙂 here for example, which you should click if you like progress pics and want to drool a little.

cyclone hat 2

FO – cyclone hat number 2

As promised I made a second cyclone hat. I wanted something a little thinner, a little more spring. The two layers the original cyclone hat is made from make for a warm and cozy hat in winter, but Berlin winters are long and often pretend to be nice spring days, when then they show you their windy side and you get cold again. So an airier hat was totally up my alley.

The original pattern is here.

for this version I used:

yarnmadelinetosh Prairie in georgia o keefe (the dark blue lace side) and kitten (the grey of the stripes and the ribbing) and undergrowth (sky blue)

it is just not right

I started and finished a cowl.

Right now I am looking for another knit. Something smaller, at least in the beginning, that I can carry around, take on trips. So I’m shopping my stash and find not only a surprisingly good amount of yarn to choose from, but also more WIPs. not-fair. I thought I listed all in my last busted post. But no, there is also the mini hexagon table cloth I started about a year ago and the dotted rays by westknits, which I realize just now I never shared before. Although that one was quite a bitch! Beautiful knitting
