The yarn and plan for this started one year earlier. Then in Sep last year I cast on. I did “daily” update pictures on my instagram. One I loved the progress documentation, two it motivated me enormously, three I actually was able to track how much time I spent with a piece like this (about 80 hours).
I changed one major thing about the pattern, I knit a close fit version of my enchanted mesa. All I did, very free handedly and eyeballing like crazy, was once finished with the yoke section to start working short rows to level up again with the lowest point and hence the arm holes. It worked like a dream. I only frogged 3 times.
yarn: Drachenwolle in red, 1 skein & Zitron Seidenstrasse in dark grey
needles: 4mm
started: September 2017
finished: November 2017
modifications: I didn’t cut the yarn to switch colors in the yoke section (only knitting another half round until beginning of round again, which didn’t change the fit or look at all) and as written above, I made a close fitting version. With all the others I saw I feared that I would never be able to put on a jacket w/o freeing one side of my body, hence freezing. After all the change on my mesa wasn’t super hard and I would totally do it again.
Actually I totally would make another enchanted mesa.
Did you knit a mesa?
