Some pictures, finally! The blanket is now comfy on my lap, warming me, not only from the outside, but from the inside too. It makes me happy. It makes me smile. If it was food, I’d say it’s soul-food. I rarely feel such pleasure when finishing something. This blanket was an idea I had six years ago. Back then there was another lacy blanket very popular. I can’t recall it’s name, though I would recognise it the minute I see it. It took the idea of a classic table doily and using the thickest warmest yarn it was turned into a beautiful cover up for those cold evenings you spend on a sofa, cuddled up.
So this year will be the year I finally clean my house of all the wips and ufos. It’s decided. It will happen. It started already. It’s also the year of thinking before casting on. Yes thinking. Like do I need a new red cardigan? Yes I do! But – I will be disciplined and finish at least one from the ufo mountain before I start a new one. And so the year started and so it will go on. I’m positive.
Let’s have a look, shall we?

ha, I just realise how fitting todays title is in two kinda ways. My blog went through the roof, cause of my orange Cyclone hat and then there is the orange political thing. I don’t want to talk about that though. I’m only glad that a lot of people use the power they have as people. Democracy is people after all.
So, my January, right? Well first back to the orange theme. Oh my !!! I would have never ever believed that such a simple hat pattern would create such a hype. Don’t get me wrong, I love it. It’s just so ridiculous! This blog has already over 40% of last years total visits. It’s January folks! January.. and more than 40% of people. It’s crazy. THANK YOU!!
I want to make another cyclone hat for myself. One that’s a bit thinner. I love love love the one I have right now as it’s effing freezing cold at the moment in Berlin and this one is super warm, but I’m also thinking ahead and winters are also long and grey and mainly windy (not so much effing freezing usually) and a nice thinner hat will be fun. Actually any new hat would be fun, let’s be honest 🙂
first – WOW – I’m so overwhelmed by the attention #cyclonehat received in such a short time!! Thank you so much on all the lovely, geeky, beautiful comments. Over on ravelry it was one of the “hot right now” patterns within 24hours (it got over 1.200 likes in 48 hours). I really have no words. I feel a bit of pressure – but that’s okay, life is fun!
Thank you so much!!
Now let me fill you in on the details on my Cyclone.
